Grieving for the death of a loved one is a long process that takes time and acceptance. As much as you love someone, recalling the details of their life at the time of their death is an overwhelming responsibility.
Services are really about love. You are taking the time and expressing and sharing the love that you felt for that person. Many people call funeral poems death poems, I for one really hate this expression, as I said earlier everything about the funeral should reflect the person's life.
Remember to be sincere, as it will be felt by the congregation. A marvelous life that is now celebrated forever. If you are asked to speak at a memorial or funeral service and are having a difficult time writing down how this loss has made you or the family feel, consider including a poem in your tribute.
And it doesn't end after death. A little time and preparation in the writing stage can make a huge difference in the impact of your delivery and can help you and your friends and family in their time of need.
