ashby funeral home

A funeral doesn t have to be family and friends sitting in front of a dead body saying the rosary. Part of life is death, and unfortunately in our lifetime we will all be faced with the death of a loved one.

As much as the poem is written as a tribute to the deceased, it should also be considered as a reassurance to the living. They will work with family members to choose a method of burial including the choice of a casket. Written words can be much more effective than spoken condolences at reaching a grieving person's heart.

Take your time, take several deep breaths before you start reading. If you attended school with the deceased, you might want to focus on your school days. A gentle, sincere hug or a shoulder to cry on is what a bereaved person needs to feel to know that he is not alone in his grief.

Your relationship with your deceased loved ones did not begin and stop overnight. Practice delivering your eulogy in front of a mirror or a friend in order that you can see if improvements or additional editing have to be made.
